Budget Trip to Busan (By Bus)

Yes it's bus to Busan not train.

It's my first time to Korea and going solo again for the second time. Excited af but at the same time nervous cos it's a real big city we're looking at here. Have been worried about my transportation to Busan from the day I've been planning my trip. Thankfully I came across this website while doing all my research.

Yay to English!!!! But then again, I was struggling with the choice of taking bus or KTX hence I didn't book online. It's a 4hours and 15mins ride for bus and there's normal buses and express buses. Normal buses cost 23,000won and express buses cost 34,200won. Difference? Only the room space and seat quality. Normal buses are just like any buses in town. Duration is still the same.

Normal buses.

Express bus - 34, 200 won. Normal bus - 23, 000 won

KTX wise, it's definetely faster spacious and comfortable. Just a two hours ride and it cost around 70,000won the last time I checked. As I was on a budget and refuse to spend so much on transportation, I've decided to take the bus instead; it's cheap, and I love long road journeys so win-win!

How to take the bus from Seoul:
Take the subway to Express Bus Terminal (line 3, take exit 1) come up of the escalator turn right and follow the gyeongbu line. It's actually all the way at the end near Starbucks. Exit 2 is fine but I'm just not sure how to maneuver from exit two, I'm guessing it's about the same just following gyeongbu line? But I didn't wanna take the risk as I'm carrying a pretty heavy load. Busan bound tickets are at Ticket Office 1.

The platform to the buses (to busan) are normally 1 or 2 according to the information counter.

Bus schedules can be checked on the English website of the bus company but I overslept and it was 9.15 when I reached Express Bus Terminal and I the 9.20am tickets are all sold out :( Next available timing for normal buses is at 2.20pm. Pretty ridiculous timing to wait so I've decided to get the express bus ticket instead at 11.40am. After two hours of ride, there's a super short break like 10 - 15 minutes? It's just like going to Genting from SG. You can get some quick bites and of course toilet breaks!

Left with another 2 more hours! Slept my way through and.....

HELLO BUSAN!!!

Once alight just walk straight up towards the escalator, it's really very easy. Coming back is exactly the same, just back track every steps!

It's really advisable to get returning tickets back to seoul once you arrived at Busan so you can plan your journey properly and don't have to rush and afraid that you can't get a seat at your preferred timing.

And there i have it, not train but bus to Busan!
